Located at 2243 S Wentworth Ave, Chicago, IL 60616, Legend Dumpling + Bao operates as a chinese restaurant serving Chicago in Illinois. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 9 am–8 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (312) 291-9495. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, legenddumplingbao.com.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 365 reviews, which is a strong result for a chinese restaurant in Chicago and suggests consistent service.

Chicago is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Chicago follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

The dumplings and baos were great, and exactly as expected! As for service and atmosphere, there really was no service to speak of: We find our own seats, we listen for our number and pick up our own foods, utensils, and sauces from the counter, and we clean up after ourselves. I have absolutely no problem with any of that....but then why were we asked to give a 15-20% tip? Who is getting the tip? What is going on with the tipping culture nowadays? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Do you want authentic northern Chinese dumplings and bao without waiting in long lines or paying big prices? Legend Dumpling + Bao is the place for you. The dumplings are affordable, delicious, and come out quickly. You can get Xiao Long Bao here, aka Shanghai-style soup dumplings, but there’s more than your average soup dumpling here. This is one of the rare restaurants in America where you can also get Beijing-style Xiao Long Bao, which are more like a northern style steamed bun than they are a dumpling. Give them a try, you won’t be disappointed! And don’t forget to try their house special dumpling sauce, it’s delicious!

This unassuming storefront held more delicious food than we initially expected. The menu is focused on dumplings and baos, and for good reason. We ordered the crab rangoons, steam chicken dumplings, Pork Bao, and chicken bao, as well as the spring roll. We deemed the best item to be steamed chicken dumplings. They were incredibly warm and juicy with a flavor that reminded you of a home cooked meal. The item we’d skip would be the spring roll, it was average but in comparison to the baos and dumplings it was simply ok. I’d recommend to stop at this gem if you take a trip to Chinatown Chicago.

Was trying to figure out what to eat on our last day in chicago and so glad we came here. This is a do it yourself restaurant, so you’ll order at the kiosk, get your own water, utensils, etc and then get your food when they call it out. We tried the Taiwanese braised beef noodles, lamb fried dumplings, and beef bao’s and everything was so delicious. I will definitely be coming back next time I’m in chicago. Everything was so well made, flavorful, and delicious. Beef brisket was so tender and broth was so flavorful. And the prices here are absolutely great! A bowl of beef brisket noodles would be $20 somewhere else! Do yourself a favor and stop in!!

The atmosphere, is pretty good, But for me it was the food. The chicken cabbage dumplings were off the hook! I also had Taiwan braised beef noodles. They were just excellent. Think beef stew with spaghetti, with an amazing broth. I thought somebody mentioned it was ramen and maybe it was. I also decided to take a bag of Ziaolongbao (also known as meat buns) home with me. 25 of them for 20 bucks. I'm thoroughly satisfied and I will return next chance I get. Chinatown isn't a regular visit for me but I will get the crave again!
